Tender oil portrait of a young girl cradling a white dove against her chest, her soft gaze turned toward the viewer. Painted in warm, muted tones with a lace collar and dark curls framing her face, the portrait captures the gentle sentiment so beloved in 18th-century French painting.

The work is in the manner of Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725–1805), one of the most celebrated French painters of his age. Greuze became famous for his tender studies of young girls, often shown holding a bird, and the dove in particular was a favorite symbol of innocence, purity, and devotion. Portraits in this spirit were widely admired and collected throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.

The painting has been fully restored, with conservation work to preserve and stabilize the original canvas so it can be enjoyed for generations to come. It is presented in a deep carved giltwood frame with fluted panels, a twisted rope border, and soft blue accents that draw the eye to the small portrait at its center.

A beautiful piece for a gallery wall, library, or bedroom.
